IS220PDIAH1A Discrete Input Module
IS220PDIAH1A is a discrete input module manufactured by General Electric and is part of the Mark VIe series used in gas turbine control systems. The electrical connection between one or two I/O Ethernet networks and the discrete input terminal board is provided by the discrete input (PDIA) package. All Mark * VIe distributed I/O package shared processor boards and acquisition boards designed specifically for discrete input functionality are included in the package. This component supports up to 24 contact inputs and feedback signals specific to the terminal board and PDIA (TBCIH1, H2, and H3 terminal board types). Connection of TICI type isolated discrete input board with voltage sensing. The dual RJ45 Ethernet ports and three pin power input provide system input for the battery pack.
Operation of PDIA Discrete Input Module
Each Mark VIe Ethernet I/O pack or module shares a processing board. It has the following content:
A fast processor with RAM and flash memory is the top priority.
Two completely independent 10/100 Ethernet port plugs
Hardware reset and watchdog timer circuit
Internal temperature sensor
LED indicating status
Ability to read IDs and electronic identifiers on other boards
Input power connector with current limiter and slow start function
Local power supply, which also includes monitoring and sorting
The IS220PDIAH1A I/O package or module specific acquisition board is connected to the processor board. When input power is applied, the soft start circuit gradually increases the available voltage on the processor board. The processor is reset and turned off, and the local power is turned on in order. After completing the self check routine, the processor loads application code from flash memory specific to the I/O package or module type. To verify whether the application code, collection board, and terminal board are correctly matched, the application code reads the board ID information. When the match is good, the processor will attempt to initiate an Ethernet connection by requesting a network address.
The address request uses industry standard Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and unique identifiers of the terminal board. After the Ethernet is started, the CPU runs the application program, programs the onboard logic, and allows the collection board to start working. The entire circuit required to enable I/O packets to run from one or two Ethernet inputs is included in the processor application code. When using two Ethernet inputs, both network paths are always active. I/O package or module operations will not be affected by any network failure, and a functioning network connection will display a fault. Compared to traditional hot backup systems, this configuration only uses the second port when the primary port fails, which has higher fault tolerance.
