A6210 Emerson Thrust Position, Differential Expansion, and Rod Position Monitor
The A6210 monitor operates in three different modes: thrust position, differential expansion, or rod position.
The thrust position mode accurately monitors the thrust position and provides reliable mechanical protection by comparing the measured axial position with the alarm set point (drive alarm and relay output).
Axial thrust monitoring is one of the most important detection methods for turbomachinery. Sudden and small axial movements should be detected within 40 milliseconds or less to minimize or avoid contact between the rotor and the housing. Suggest using redundant sensors and voting logic. It is strongly recommended to supplement thrust position monitoring with temperature measurement of thrust bearings.
Axial thrust monitoring consists of one to three displacement sensors installed at the shaft end or thrust ring, parallel to the shaft. A displacement sensor is a non-contact sensor that measures the position of an axis.
For extremely critical safety applications, the A6250 monitor provides triple element residual thrust protection based on the SIL3 level overspeed system platform.
