Bently Nevada 3500/25- Keyphasor Module
3500/25 is an enhanced key phase module developed by Bently Nevada. It is a half height, dual channel module used to transmit Keyphasor signals to the monitor module in the 3500 rack. When the key phase mark on the axis aligns with the key phase sensor, the module uses a magnetic pickup or proximity probe to detect the alignment and converts the input signal into a digital key phase signal.
3500/25 Function Description
For regular settings, the 3500 mechanical protection system can accept up to four key trust numbers, and for paired configurations, it can accept up to eight.
The pulse of each rotation or multiple events per rotation of a rotating shaft or gear (known as a key signal) can be used to accurately detect timing.
Therefore, the shaft speed and vector characteristics (such as 1X vibration amplitude and phase) can be measured through the 3500 monitoring module and external diagnostic tools.
Enhanced Keyphasor Module
The enhanced 3500 system module is called the enhanced key phase module. While maintaining full backward compatibility with existing Keyphasor modules used in traditional systems in terms of shape, fit, and functionality, it provides enhanced Keyphasor signal processing capabilities compared to previous designs. The revised 149369-01 module completely replaces the Keyphasor module PWA 125792-01.
When Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) applications require system key phase inputs, the 3500 system should use two key phase modules. In this setup, modules run in parallel, providing primary and secondary key signals for other modules in the rack.
If there are no more than four primary key phase input signals, systems with four or more key phase inputs can use paired arrangements
3500/25 operation
Pairing configuration requires continuous monitoring at either the upper/lower half slot position or two half slot positions. The four Keyphasor modules will provide four output channels and accept four main input channels and four backup input channels (one for each module).
It is also feasible to set up three key phase modules, two of which are coupled and one is unpaired. Users can configure a single unpaired key phase in this way (ordering two 2-channel or one 1-channel and one 2-channel options)
Isolation key phase I/O module
The isolated key phase I/O module is suitable for situations where many devices are simultaneously connected to key signals and need to be isolated from other systems (such as control systems).
Although the isolated I/O module is primarily designed for magnetic pickup applications, as long as an external power source is provided, the isolated I/O module is compatible with Proximitor * applications and provides isolation for them.
The main objective of this I/O module is to measure shaft speed rather than phase. This module can provide phase measurement, but compared to the non isolated I/O version, this I/O introduces a slightly larger phase shift. Creating per turn event signals from multiple event inputs, field upgradable firmware, and asset management data reports are examples of enhancing product functionality.
Input signal specifications
Magnetic pickups or proximity probe sensors can send up to two sensor signals to each key phase module. The input signal range of non isolated I/O modules is+0.8 V to 21.0 V, while the input signal range of isolated I/O modules is+5 V to -11 V.
Signals beyond this range are subject to internal limitations within the module. For passive magnetic pickups (3.3 Hz), the shaft speed must exceed 200 rpm. Magnetic pickups or proximity probe sensors can send up to two sensor signals to each key phase module.
