REF601 is a dedicated feeder protection and control relay. REJ601 is an overcurrent protection relay without circuit breaker control. These relays are used to protect public substations and industrial power systems in primary and secondary distribution networks. They are ABB Relion ® A member of the product series and also a part of the 605 series. These relays integrate protection, monitoring, and control functions, with the best performance and availability among similar products, and are based on ABB’s deep knowledge in protection and digital technology.
Relay function
REF601 and REJ601 can be pre configured for easy and quick debugging of switchgear. To emphasize the simplicity of using these relays, specific application parameters only need to be set within the expected application range of the relays.
Protection function
REF601 and REJ601 have three-level overcurrent and two-level ground fault protection functions. The surge detector function of the transformer can prevent unnecessary tripping caused by the transformer being energized. REF601 and REJ601 have three-level overcurrent and two-level ground fault protection functions. The low-level stage used for overcurrent and ground fault protection has optional features – timing (DT) and inverse time limit (IDMT). The relay has IDMT characteristics that comply with the IEC 61255-3 standard – normal reverse, pole reverse, pole reverse, and long-term reverse. They also have characteristics that comply with the ANSI C37.112 standard – moderate reverse, normal reverse, extreme reverse, and extreme reverse. Relays also have special RI reverse (RI) characteristics, which can better coordinate with other parts of the network. In addition, the relay also supports two setting groups. REF601 and REJ601 also provide thermal overload protection for feeders, cables, and transformers. Other protections include negative phase sequence protection, phase failure protection, and circuit breaker fault protection. The relay also has an automatic recloser option for overhead line feeders.
