VMIVME-2540 is an intelligent digital input/output board with VMEbus slave interface, which can provide 4, 8, 16 or 24 channel digital signal measurement and signal generation functions. These measurement and signal output functions are implemented by a series of AM9513A system timing controllers (STCs) and related interface logic. The onboard VMIVME-2540 local CPU (68HC000 microprocessor) performs board functions by providing a command driven user interface, freeing users from the task of directly programming the system timing controller. Users configure measurement, timing, and output functions for each channel through a simple memory mapping interface, which consists of commands, command states, parameters, and returned measurement values.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VMIVME-2540 is developed and produced by General Electric’s industrial automation production series. These models were subsequently purchased by Abaco Systems. This series is called VMIC/GE Fanuc board, designed for various applications of industrial circuits, such as CPU management and input-output communication.

VMIVME-2540 is one of the specific modules of the VMIC/GE Fanuc board, which has the function of operating as an intelligent counter controller. This device is capable of computing up to 4 gigabit events. It is equipped with a series of 24 discrete output channels that can be programmed through various onboard jumper module options. These jumpers are capable of operating at a wide range of extreme voltage levels.

The 24 output channels are designed to provide 12 bit resolution. They can provide and absorb up to 10 milliamps of current at a rate of+/-10 V.

In order to conduct offline testing using VMIVME-2540, the analog input is designed to be disconnected from the external circuit.
