MVI56E-MCM communication module
Using MVI56E enhanced Modbus master/slave communication module, Rockwell Automation ® ControlLogix ® The processor can easily connect devices using the RTU/ASCII serial communication protocol.
MVI56E-MCM and MVI56E-MCMXT serve as input/output modules on the ControlLogix backplane, making Modbus data feel like I/O data to the processor. The data transmission with the processor is asynchronous with communication on the Modbus network. The module has two independently configurable serial ports and can run on the same or different Modbus networks. Each port can be configured as a Modbus master or slave, sharing the same user controlled 10000 word database.
The two modules are functionally identical. MVI56E-MCM is used for standard process application projects. MVI56E-MCMXT for Logix XT ™ Control platform, capable of working in extreme environments. It can withstand higher working temperatures and has a conformal coating that provides protection under harsh or corrosive conditions.
The MVI56E-CM module returns a 33 word status data block that can be used to determine the operational status of the module. This data is located in the module’s database at registers 15270 to 15302 and at the location specified in the configuration. This data is continuously transmitted to the ControlLogix processor along with each read block. For a complete list of state data objects, please refer to MVI56E-CM State Data Definition.
