MOTOROLA MVME147-013 Control board
The Emerson/Motorola MVME6100 VME single board computer is the first VMEbus single board computer (SBC) designed with Tundra Tsi148 VMEbus interface chip, providing 2eSST VMEbus performance. The 2eSST (Two Edge Source Synchronous Transmission) protocol enables VMEbus to operate at an actual bandwidth of 320MB/s in most cases. The 2eSST protocol has been in existence for some time (the draft trial standard was released in 1999 and became an ANSI standard in 2003), but until now, the 2eSST board will not be able to work on the standard VMEbus backplane because existing VMEbus transceivers cannot support the required VMEbus 2eSST signaling speed. Texas Instruments has developed a new VMEbus transceiver that supports the VMEbus signal exchange speed required by the 2eSST protocol. The combination of the new Texas Instruments VMEbus transceiver and the traditional protocol support of Tsi148 VMEbus allows users to integrate the MVME6100 series into existing infrastructure, providing backward compatibility.
The Emerson/Motorola MVME2400 series VME board features the performance of the Motorola PowerPlus Il architecture and can be fully customized through two PCI mezz cards (PMCs) to meet your application needs. The flexibility of MVME2400 provides an excellent foundation platform that can be quickly and easily customized for various industry specific applications. The MVME2400 processor module utilizes Motorola’s low-power, high-performance PowerPC 750 microprocessor, Peripheral Component Interconnection (PCI) bus for on-board peripherals, processor/memory bus to PCI bus bridge, and VME interface to integrate the best level of flexibility and performance into a single VME slot.
The Emerson/Motorola IPMC712/IPMC761 multifunctional 1/0 module is an optional module that is backward compatible with Motorola Computer Group (MCG) products that used MVME761 or MVME712M transition boards in the early days. Early MCG products, including the MVME2600 and MVME2700 series sbcIPMC712 and IPMC761, can be installed and used on the MVME5100 SBC. Both models are designed around the PMC appearance, and both modules include PCI/ISA bridging, ultra wide SCSI adapters, and Super I/O functionality. Both modules are single width, standard length, and standard height PMC boards. Connect to the motherboard PCI bus through PMC P11, P12, P13, P14, and P15 connectors. The two modules draw+5V and+3.3V through PMC connectors.
