IGCT has the characteristics of high current, high blocking voltage, high switching frequency, high reliability, compact structure, and low conduction loss, as well as low manufacturing cost and high yield. It has been widely used in power system power grid devices (100MVA) and medium power industrial drive devices (5MW). IGCT has been successfully applied in the field of medium voltage inverters for 11 years (until 2009). Due to its high-speed switching ability, IGCT does not require buffer circuits, As a result, fewer power components are required and operational reliability is greatly improved.
IGCT integrates the high-speed switching characteristics of IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) and the high blocking voltage and low conduction loss characteristics of GTO (gate off thyristor). Generally, trigger signals are transmitted to IGCT units through optical fibers. The switch output module is used to control output devices such as contactors, solenoid valves, electromagnets, indicator lights, digital display devices, and alarm devices, while the analog output module is used to control actuators such as control valves and frequency converters.
The working voltage of the CPU module is generally 5V, while the input/output signal voltage of the PLC is generally higher, such as DC 24V and AC 220V. Peak voltages and interference noises introduced from outside can damage components in the CPU module or prevent the PLC from working properly. In the I/O module, devices such as optical couplers, photoelectric thyristors, and small relays are used to isolate the internal and external I/O circuits of the PLC. In addition to transmitting signals, the I/O module also has level conversion and isolation functions.
