1. CPU module
CPU module is mainly composed of microprocessor (CPU chip) and memory. In the PLC control system, the factory CPU module is equivalent to the human brain. It continuously collects input signals, executes user programs, and refreshes the output of the system; Memory is used to store programs and data.
2. I/O module
Input module and output module are referred to as I/O module. They are the eyes, ears, hands and feet of the system and the bridge between external field devices and CPU modules.
The input module is used to receive and collect input signals, and the switch input module is used to receive slave buttons; Switch input signals from selector switch, digital dial switch, limit switch, proximity switch, photoelectric switch, pressure relay, etc; The analog input module is used to receive continuously changing analog current and voltage signals provided by potentiometers, tachogenerators and various transmitters.
The switch output module is used to control the output devices such as contactor, solenoid valve, electromagnet, indicator light, digital display device and alarm device, while the analog output module is used to control the actuator such as regulating valve and frequency converter.
The working voltage of CPU module is generally 5V, while the input/output signal voltage of PLC is generally higher, such as DC 24V and AC 220V. The spike voltage and interference noise introduced from the outside may damage the components in the CPU module or make the PLC unable to work properly. In the I/O module, optical coupler, photoelectric thyristor, small relay and other devices are used to isolate the internal circuit and external I/O circuit of PLC. In addition to transmitting signals, I/O modules also have level conversion and isolation functions.
3. Programmer
Programmers use it to generate user programs and use it to edit, check, modify and monitor the execution of user programs. The hand-held programmer cannot directly input and edit the ladder diagram, but can only input and edit the instruction list program, so it is also called the instruction programmer. It is small and cheap. It is usually used for programming small PLC or on-site debugging and maintenance.
The ladder diagram, instruction list, function block diagram and sequence function diagram program can be directly generated and edited on the computer screen by using the programming software, and the mutual conversion of different programming languages can be realized. After the program is compiled, it can be downloaded to the PLC or uploaded to the computer. The program can be saved or printed, and can also be programmed and transmitted remotely through the network.
4. Power supply
PLC generally uses 220V AC power supply or 24V DC power supply. The internal switch power supply provides DC 5V, ± 12V, 24V and other DC power supplies for each module. Small PLCs can usually provide 24V DC power for input circuits and external electronic sensors (such as proximity switches), and DC power for driving PLC loads is usually provided by users.
