Motorola MVME5500 VME board
The MVME5500 continues Motorola’s migration path from the MVME5100 series to a single platform from Motorola’s embedded controller and single board computer (SBC). This migration path enables OEMs to support different I/O requirements on the same basic platform, thus simplifying part number maintenance, technical and professional requirements, and backup. MVME5500 series provides customers with MVME2300, MVME2400, MVME2600, MVME2700 and MVME5100 boards, allowing them to use MPC7455 processor and other functions, gigabit Ethernet and dual independent 33/66 MHz PMC sites.
The MVME5500 provides more than just better processor performance; It also provides processors, memory, dual independent local buses, and I/0 subsystems. Powerful Marvell system controller, supporting 133 MHz host bus and 133 MHz SDRAM memory bus, matching with high-speed processing machine to match the system |/O with excellent processor performance. The MVME5500 provides a dual 64 bit 33/66 MHz PCI bus. Each PCI bus has a PMC site that supports cards running at 33 or 66 MHz. The universe II VME interface and PMCspan connector are isolated from the PMC site on the dedicated 33 MHz PCI bus segment, so both PMC sites can operate at 66 MHz. The MVME5500 also provides a Gigabit Ethernet interface, a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet interface, and two serial ports. All these constitute a set of well balanced and high-performance subsystems for excellent performance.
